Sounds difficult? Fortunately, there's a good general rule to follow. To begin, drape the necktie around your collar so that the seam of the tie is lying along the collar. The broad end should be on the side of your dominant hand--if you are left-handed, the broad end should be on your left side. Now for the measuring trick: place the tip of the narrow end just above the fourth button down your shirt (the one above your navel), and eliminate the slack by pulling down on the broad end. Again, the tie seam should remain hidden in the back.
Another way is to place the tie around you neck and position the narrow end with the tip ending just above the belt buckle. This will give you a reference point so that if the tie is too short or two long you will know how much to adjust it.
Another measuring trick is to let the broad end hang down twice as long as the narrow end. To check if you've done this right, fold the broad end in half up towards your neck. The folded portion should be equal in length to the narrow end.
Half Windsor knot is said to have been invented by the Duke of Windsor. It's a great look that you should try when tying your necktie.

Step 1: Place your tie so that the narrow side is longer than the wide side and cross the wide side over the narrow side.
Step 2: Next bring narrow side up around and behind wide side.
Step 3: Now, bring narrow side up.
Step 4: Next, pull narrow side up and through the loop in front.
Step 5: Now bring wide side around front, over narrow side from left to right.
Step 6: Again, bring wide side up and through the loop.
Step 7: Bring the wide side down through the loop in front.
Step 8: Using both hands, gently tighten the Half Windsor knot and draw it up snugly the collar.
